Harrison Bowen Studios:

Harrison Bowen Studios is a creative space where I share my artwork and myself. Currently concentrating on functional stoneware pottery/ceramics thrown on a potter’s wheel, my designs are inspired by nature with a focus on simplicity, balance and flow. Through my pottery I am aiming to capture a moment in time; a thought, an expression; the feeling of handmade object in your hands, the marriage of masculine and feminine inherent in the process of creation...comparably; that feeling of the first sip of coffee, waking up next to a loved one, hot cocoa on a snowy day, intimate moments, encounters and connections with the people and things you love.

*I also create Jewelry, Photography and Music and am happy to collaborate or take orders or comissions!

I find myself constantly inspired by nature, spirituality and my passion for music. My expressions are simply a mirror of myself, my experiences in life, and all that I have felt, seen, touched and heard.

Harrison Bowen:

I am captivated and inspired by nature and the little imperfections that make us human.

I am an artist, adventurer, and nature lover. When I’m not creating artwork or music, you’ll typically find me outside (hiking, biking, rock climbing, yoga, backpacking, camping, trail running, etc.) or working as an instructor with Philadelphia Outward Bound School (which I am extremely passionate about).

I started creating art about 2008. Before that I was (and still am) an avid musician/multi-instrumentalist and almost dropped out of high school to pursue music. My first real taste of the art world was through digital photography and then darkroom photography as a freshman photo major at university. My freshman year I took a basic sculpture class and I was hooked. Missing the endless days I spent playing outside as a kid (as well as missing the sunlight and becoming nearly translucent from spending so much time in the darkroom) I decided to switch my concentration from photography to 3 dimensional art. I dove head first into the world of Sculpture, Pottery and Ceramics, and Jewelry/Jewelry Design and used my remaining time in university trying to absorb all the information, processes, techniques and skills I possibly could.

Since that time I have focused my artwork to be more environmentally friendly by using sustainable, repurposed, recycled and reused materials.

I couldn’t stop creating even if I wanted to…I find myself constantly inspired by nature, spirituality and my passion for music. My expressions are simply a mirror of everything that I do and all that I have seen and felt. It is my mission to help save the planet and bring awareness to environmental issues through my artwork.

I’m currently creating artwork out of my parent’s old barn as well as a community art center where I volunteer and teach.
